With past accomplishments include twenty years of senior corporate management, ten as President with full P&L responsibility, Mr. Toering provides seasoned business management expertise to any assignment. Mr. Toering holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Science Degree in Product Design from Illinois Institute of Technology. Prior to forming Concept Engineering Group, Mr. Toering spent eight years as President of Norris Industries, a diversified, multi-million dollar manufacturing and service company headquartered in Los Angeles. Mr. Toering had been recruited into the Norris position with the charter of halting a very rapid decline in business volume. He immediately rationalized the existing business to maintain profitability and then planned and executed a diversification the company into a balanced mix of businesses. Over the ensuing five years, the company evolved into a diversified manufacturing and service organization, including four separate business units. One of those business units, Norris Environmental Services, went from start up to the largest commercial waste water treatment provider in the West within four years, while achieving 20% pre-tax profit margins. In the late 80's, prior to joining Norris, Mr. Toering lead the two year, 500% growth of a $20 million systems integration division into a $120 million “virtual factory” procurement services operation. That strategic repositioning grew annual operating income from $1.5 million to over $10 million. Before moving into general management, Mr. Toering was heavily involved in strategic planning, new business / new product analysis, and the development of new products and new businesses. In one case, he conceived and defined new automotive product line and marketing approach; and lead, as head of the national sales organization, the company's successful entry into a new market where it became number two player with first year sales exceeding $10 million. For a number of years, Mr. Toering was the head of product R&D a major automotive aftermarket supplier. He has been personally involved in development of products ranging from race car components to military systems. |
